Busting the Myth: Why Recognition Matters to All Generations in the Workplace
I want to bust a myth that says that baby boomers don't crave recognition in the workplace.
It is true that there is some individual variability within every generation and that some people desire more recognition than others.
And some people are more intrinsically motivated and don't need as much recognition – 100%.
However, in my work with employee engagement and listening, I have found that it doesn't matter if somebody is 22 years old and fresh out of college or has been in the industry for decades.
Ultimately, everyone in the workplace craves to feel seen, heard, known, respected, and valued.
This is a universal truth that transcends generational boundaries.
So, let's ditch many of our generational assumptions and start thinking about what it means to be a human being.
