How to Combat the Lack of Employee Recognition
Leaders, you'd have to live under a rock not to know that year after year, one of the biggest reasons employees look for a new job or leave their current one is the lack of employee recognition. ๐ณ
But when I talk to leaders about this, they always seem dumbfounded about how to combat it.
They start to ask questions like: How do we improve that on a budget? How do we get an ROI in this area without implementing some massive employee recognition program? ๐๐ผโ๏ธ
โก๏ธ And if you want to grow in your ability to give individualized praise and recognition, the biggest tip I can give you is this: โฌ ๏ธ
Make sure to deliver praise and recognition to your employees in a way that is customized to their unique talents and strengths. ๐
There's a difference between saying, "Hey, great job in that meeting. I really appreciate your input."
(Which, by the way, is still a great message.) ๐
Versus, "Hey, I just need you to know that your ability to synthesize information quickly serves our team so well. Thank you."
That's the kind of praise and recognition that moves the needle. ๐ชก
Check out this video I made talking about why we shouldn't ignore the power of praise and recognition. โคต๏ธ
